Manchester United secures triple academy transfer from rivals
Manchester United has reportedly secured the signatures of three promising young players from rivals Liverpool and Manchester City. This move includes Isaac Konde from Liverpool, and David Eze and Karim Cassim from Manchester City, all of whom are expected to join the Manchester United academy.
The club had previously shown interest in Eze, providing him with a tour of their training facilities at Carrington. It is now understood that Manchester United has successfully acquired the 16-year-old midfielder, along with Konde and Cassim. All three players are expected to join Darren Fletcher’s Under-18s squad for the upcoming season.

Despite representing England at youth level, Eze maintains strong ties to Ireland, having been born in Dublin and moving to Manchester at the age of six. His father continues to reside in Ireland, and Eze is reportedly proud of his Irish heritage, open to representing the Republic of Ireland if the opportunity arises.
Manchester United’s pursuit of academy talent extends beyond Eze. The club is also reportedly close to securing Karim Cassim, another highly-rated academy player from Manchester City. Negotiations for Cassim are said to be advanced, indicating a likely completion of the deal. This potential double swoop from their local rivals highlights United’s strategy to recruit top young players and strengthen the pathway from their academy to the first team.

If Gabriel makes the step up to Michael Carrick’s first team, Konde, Cassim, and Eze could be crucial in maintaining the strength of the U18s. Eze typically plays as an attacking midfielder, while Cassim operates in a slightly deeper role. Konde is versatile, capable of playing as a striker or a left-winger. Gabriel is reportedly under consideration to travel to Norway for United’s second pre-season match against Rosenborg, with a debut being a possibility. During a previous match against Wrexham, Michael Carrick made numerous changes at half-time, a pattern that is expected to continue against Rosenborg. This could create an opportunity for Gabriel, especially since Toby Collyer, who played as an attacking midfielder in the second half against Wrexham, is not a natural attacker.
Gabriel could also feature on the left flank, though he would need to displace Ethan Williams, as Patrick Dorgu is unlikely to be dropped from the starting lineup for the Rosenborg fixture.
