London clubs pursue transfer targets as Chelsea sign Rogers
Chelsea secures Rogers, Arsenal seeks alternatives
Chelsea has reportedly secured the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a fee of £117million. This move comes after Arsenal had also shown interest in the England international. The official confirmation of Rogers’ transfer to West London is anticipated soon.
Following this development, Arsenal is now exploring alternative attacking options. The club is expected to announce the signing of Christos Tzolis. Additionally, Nico Williams has re-emerged as a target for the Premier League champions.
Arsenal is also reportedly pursuing Bruno Guimaraes. Other potential alternatives for Arsenal after missing out on Rogers include Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain and Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. Both players are expected to command significant transfer fees.
Other notable transfer activities
In other transfer news, Manchester United has acquired Tynan Thompson from Tottenham. United is also looking to intensify efforts to sign Manu Kone and has initiated talks with Crystal Palace for Ismaila Sarr. Sarr, a Senegal international, scored 21 goals across all competitions last season.
Tottenham, having already spent over £200m this summer, could finalize deals for Savinho and Pedro Neto. Meanwhile, Liverpool is reportedly interested in Spain’s World Cup final player, Ferran Torres.
Chelsea has also had a £60million bid for Alex Scott rejected by Bournemouth. The midfielder has reportedly declined multiple contract offers from Bournemouth. Bournemouth is also progressing in talks to sign Benfica defender Antonio Silva.
Former Chelsea centre-back Malang Sarr is set to join SC Neom in Saudi Arabia, having reportedly turned down offers from European clubs. Chelsea is also considering John Stones, a free agent after his contract with Manchester City expired, for their centre-back shortlist.
Newcastle United has made inquiries about AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori, who is reportedly valued between €15million and €20m. Tomori is considering his options as Milan looks to sell him before his contract expires in 2027.
Managerial and coaching developments
Zinedine Zidane is reportedly interested in having Fabien Barthez join his backroom staff as goalkeeping coach if he takes over as France head coach. However, Barthez currently lacks the necessary coaching qualification, which the French Football Federation and Zidane require for all staff members.
Andrew Crofts has joined Tottenham as a first-team coach, moving from Brighton. Paris Saint-Germain has withdrawn from the pursuit of midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Luis Enrique aiming to maintain a clear path for the club’s young midfield talents.
Hull City is exploring a potential deal for Norwich full-back Kellen Fisher, though no talks have yet occurred between the two clubs. Juventus has offered €6.5m for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, but Villa is seeking €12m.
Real Madrid is interested in Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise. Tottenham rejected a £46m bid from Newcastle United for midfielder Lucas Bergvall. Bayern Munich has granted Joao Palhinha additional time before he must return to the club, with Aston Villa showing interest.

Juventus is reportedly leading the race for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun, with Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland also interested. Celta Vigo midfielder Ilaix Moriba has been offered to several clubs, including Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, and Hull, and could be available for around €20m.
Mohamed Salah is set to continue his career in Turkey, with the Egypt forward expected to sign for Besiktas. Manchester United is also considering Nottingham Forest wing-back Neco Williams, who can play on either flank.
Tottenham’s recent spending spree may lead to some player departures, with Argentina defender Cristian Romero a potential candidate to leave. Chelsea may need to spend £55m to acquire Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix this summer.
The summer transfer window is in full swing as clubs aim to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
