Tyson Fury, a British heavyweight, secured a victory against Mariusz Wach in a low-key bout held in Pattaya, Thailand. The fight, which was not broadcast live on television or radio, took place at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in front of approximately 1,500 fans. Fury dominated the fight for seven rounds before Wach retired at the start of the eighth round.

This win marks Fury’s 36th career victory and his second in as many contests this year, following a 16-month break from competitive fighting. The bout is expected to be featured in the third series of the Netflix reality show ‘At Home With The Furys’.

Fury’s performance saw him control the early rounds, repeatedly landing uppercuts at close range in the fifth round. One clip posted on social media, however, showed Wach catching Fury with a right hand in the second round. Wach’s corner ultimately withdrew him from the fight, giving Fury his first stoppage victory since 2022.

Fury’s victory moves him closer to a potential fight with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua. Joshua is scheduled for his own comeback fight against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Fury commented on the upcoming fight, stating, “I went through my test tonight. Let’s see if he can get through his.” He added that he hopes “the next big fight is signed next week.”

There had been speculation that Fury would travel to Jeddah for Joshua’s bout, with the possibility of announcing their highly anticipated showdown in the ring if Joshua wins. However, Fury stated he would be returning home to his family, saying, “I’m not going to Jeddah, I’m going home to my wife and kids. I’m going to regroup and hopefully we’ll have a big fight signed next week.”

Questions remain regarding the location of an all-British bout between Fury and Joshua. While Eddie Hearn has indicated that Joshua’s contract specifies the UK as the venue, other reports suggest a location in America. Fury mentioned several possibilities, including Vegas, New York, Ireland, or London.

Joshua’s upcoming fight against Prenga will be his first professional appearance since being involved in a car crash in Nigeria in December, which resulted in the deaths of two of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. His last competitive appearance in the ring was a knockout loss to IBF world champion Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.
