Alonso’s Stance on Fernandez
Xabi Alonso, the new manager for Chelsea, has expressed his determination to retain Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Reports indicate that Fernandez had previously been suspended by Chelsea for two matches last season due to his reported interest in Real Madrid. His representative, Javier Pastore, had also mentioned the possibility of Fernandez leaving Chelsea earlier in July, speaking positively about life in Madrid. However, Real Madrid subsequently distanced themselves publicly from any approach for the player.
While Paris Saint-Germain has been tenuously linked with Fernandez, it is unclear what other options the Argentine midfielder might have to depart Chelsea without Real Madrid as a suitor. Previous interest from Manchester City is not thought to have continued.
Garnacho’s Potential Departure
In contrast to Fernandez, Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly free to leave Chelsea. Alonso confirmed that there is interest from Garnacho himself and from other clubs regarding a potential transfer. The manager expressed hope that the situation would conclude favorably for all parties involved.
Garnacho, a former Manchester United winger, joined Chelsea after his departure from Old Trafford. Last season, he started 17 times across the Premier League and Champions League, with six of his eight goals coming in domestic cup competitions. Despite not being selected for the World Cup by Argentina, Garnacho has not rejoined Chelsea for preseason training, allowing his representatives to arrange a transfer.
Clubs such as Napoli and Turkish football teams are mentioned as potential destinations for Garnacho. Saudi Arabia is also considered a viable option that could offer significant financial compensation, though it would move him away from the prominent European football spotlight.
