Barcola’s future at Paris Saint-Germain
Bradley Barcola has opted against extending his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Despite this decision, the winger’s current deal still has two years remaining. His choice to not renew follows months of consideration, with his current contract set to run until 2028.
Reports indicate that sporting reasons influenced Barcola’s decision, even though Paris Saint-Germain‘s offer included a financial increase. Barcola views himself as a number 12, often playing on the flanks, and no longer wishes to continue in that specific role. This position led to him being on the bench for two Champions League finals.
The question of whether Barcola will depart this summer remains. Several clubs have shown interest in the player, including Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich. Chelsea was also mentioned, though it was not among Barcola’s preferred options.
The wider winger market in Europe could also influence Barcola’s situation. Real Madrid‘s move for Yan Diomande, a winger from RB Leipzig and a primary target for Paris Saint-Germain, has already impacted market dynamics. Paris Saint-Germain had previously reached a contractual agreement with Diomande weeks ago. The competition to sign the Ivorian player is seen as a key factor that might determine if Barcola leaves the Parisian club this summer or stays for now.

Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly seeking £145m for Bradley Barcola, with Arsenal and Liverpool showing interest in the 23-year-old France international. While Arsenal has not initiated talks for Vinicius Jr, they are reportedly prepared to offer him the largest contract in the club’s history. However, Vinicius Jr‘s priority is to sign a new deal with Real Madrid, where he has one year left on his current contract.
Arsenal is also expected to accelerate discussions regarding the signing of Newcastle‘s 28-year-old Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Guimaraes has reportedly informed his representatives that he wants his future resolved within the next week, before he returns for Newcastle‘s pre-season training camp.
