Ryu concluded her final round with an even-par 71 at Evian Golf Resort. She and Henderson, who shot a 64, both finished at 19-under par for the week. Henderson’s final round included three eagles, notably a hole-in-one on No. 8 and an eagle on No. 18, which forced the playoff. The playoff took place on No. 18, where Henderson made par after a challenging drive. Ryu, who had recorded a 60 on Saturday—the lowest round in a major—sank a three-foot birdie putt to seal her win. This achievement makes her one of the double major winners in women’s golf this year, alongside Nelly Korda, who won the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open.

Ryu’s Historic Performance at Evian

Ryu’s path to victory included a historic performance in the third round of the Amundi Evian Championship, where she carded an 11-under 60. This round marked the lowest in major championship history. Despite being close to a 59, her eagle putt on the par-5 18th just missed. Ryu later expressed her surprise at the score, stating she was unaware of her potential record-breaking round until she reviewed her scorecard on the green.

Her impressive third round began with a birdie on the par-3 second hole. She nearly achieved a hole-in-one on the par-3 fifth and then holed out for an eagle on the sixth. Additional birdies followed on holes 7, 9, 10, 14, 15, and 17. Heading into the final round, Ryu held a three-shot lead at 19-under, having started the day three shots behind Lottie Woad of England. Aki Iwai of Japan was in second place at 16-under, with Henderson and Mao Saigo sharing third.
